Learning Skills and Strategies

Learning strategies are ways to understand, remember, and apply the knowledge you learn.

What is a Learning Style?

Learning skills are about "learning how to learn" and improving a student's effectiveness and efficiency at studying and completing tests and assignments. Your "learning style" is your best way of taking in and processing information.

The 3 basic styles are:

Visual

Auditory

Kinesthetic

Learn best by seeing

Learn best by hearing

Learn best by doing

When you know your style, you can learn more effective ways of studying!

Visit the Index of Learning Styles to discover your learning style and receive tips related to that style.

Psychologist Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences suggests that there are many different kinds of intelligence. In order to capture the full range of abilities and talents that people possess, Gardner suggests that people do not have just an intellectual capacity, but have many different intelligences including musical, interpersonal, spatial-visual and linguistic; they can have a range of abilities.
