This guide will help you use Blackboard for your courses at Red Deer Polytechnic.

Blackboard LearnBlackboard is the official learning management system (LMS) of Red Deer Polytechnic.

This guide will help you use Blackboard for your courses.

Having Trouble Logging into Blackboard?

To access Blackboard, navigate to the Academic Quick Links in RDP’s student portal, called MyRDP. If MyRDP is unavailable, you can also use this direct link to access your RDP Blackboard account.

To log in to Blackboard, please use the same username (your RDP email address) and password that you created for your RDP Microsoft 365 account.

If you have a Red Deer Polytechnic Email Address

Current domestic and international students enrolled in credit programs at Red Deer Polytechnic
all have an RDP email address. In addition, all students receive a Microsoft 365 account
through RDP.

If you’re a new student at RDP and don’t yet have an RDP Microsoft 365 account (or if you’ve
forgotten your password), please follow these steps to activate your account (or to reset your
password):

  • Click this link to Reset Password.
  • Enter your RDP email: [firstname.lastname@rdpolytech.ca].
  • Select I forgot my password and follow the on-screen prompts, which will include receiving a code via email to your personal email address.
  • Set your new password and confirm your new password. Your password must meet the following criteria:
    • At least 12 characters.
    • At least 1 of each: uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, and symbol.
  • Log in to your Microsoft account with your new password.
  • Set up Multifactor Authentication by downloading the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Lastly, visit rdpolytech.ca/MyRDP and log in using the same RDP email address and password that you just created to log in to your RDP Microsoft 365 account.

If you don't have a Red Deer Polytechnic email address

Some students enrolled in RDP’s Continuing Education courses or programs, and external RDP guests, may not have an RDP email address, while still being granted access to RDP’s Blackboard platform.

If you don’t have an RDP email address, you can access Blackboard by visiting this login page and using your Username and Password.

Continuing Education students who don’t have an RDP email and can’t access Blackboard using your Username and Password should email Continuing Education at continuing.education@rdpolytech.ca for help.
