xTool D1 Pro Laser Cutter
The Xtool D1 Pro uses a powerful 20 watt diode laser to cut and engrave a variety of different materials such as plywood and acrylic. It's design software is beginner friendly and will allow you to customize and experiment with your own projects.
UltiMaker 3 Extended - 3D Printer
The UltiMaker 3 is a dual extrusion 3D printer. 3D models are designed and prepared using slicing software. Materials, such as plastic, are deposited and joined together layer by layer to to bring designs to life and form a physical object.
Creality CR-10 Mini 3D Printer
The CR-10 by Creality is an excellent 3D printer to learn and experiment with. The Makerspace has 3 available for use. The 1.75mm PLA filament it uses comes in a variety of colours to really make your projects pop.
Cricut Explore Air
The Cricut Explore Air is a computer controlled cutting machine. It writes, draws, cuts, and scores a variety of fabric and materials using Cricut's free Design Space app. Useful for projects, arts andcrafts, and much more. Stop by the Makerspace and give it a try!
Raspberry Pi 3
The Raspberry Pi 3 is an open source single board computer. It's used in hardware projects, to learn programming skills, home automation, and much more. You can connect a mouse and keyboard and use it in many of the same ways you would a traditional computer.
Studio Room and Green screen
The Makerspace features a soundproofed studio room with a retractable green screen for all your audiovisual needs. Computer stations are equipped with editing software and Cameras are available for checkout at the library service desk. The studio room is also home to a Blue Snowball iCE stationary USB microphone
3D Pen
A 3D Pen is a tool which heats and pushes plastic through a nozzle located at the tip of the pen. The plastic sets and hardens instantly and can be used to create shapes and models of different complexity. Our pens use PLA as a material. Great for using pieces of scrap filament that would normally be used with a 3D printer!
Arduino Uno
Arduino's are programmable microcontroller boards that can be used in a variety of electronic projects. An Arduino reads inputs from sensors and uses them to produce outputs. They are great for beginner's looking to learn more about electronics.
Button Maker
Our Button Maker creates 1.5" buttons with ease. You can create your own design online to personalize your buttons.
Brother CS505 Sewing Machine
This sewing machine is great for beginners and experts alike. It includes 60 built in stitches and an LCD display with computerized stitch selection.
Use of Makerspace Equipment
The equipment in the RDP Makerspace may be used only for lawful purposes. Makerspace services are offered in a non-commercial capacity. Mass quantity printouts will be referred to a commercial company or RDP's Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing - Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC). RDP reserves the right to refuse any submission.
Makerspace equipment cannot be used to create:
- Anything prohibited by provincial or federal law.
- Anything that is unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or which poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
- A weapon, in part or whole, or any object that can be mistaken for a weapon.
- Drug paraphernalia.
- In violation of the intellectual property rights of others. For example, reproducing material that is subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection.
- Anything that is lewd, malicious, or otherwise unsuitable for creating a welcoming and inclusive public space.
