The official MLA Style Center website has a helpful guide for formatting your paper, including information on creating the list of Works Cited.
Placement of the Works Cited List
The list of Works Cited typically appears at the end of a research paper or presentation.
Double-Spaced
The Works Cited list is double-spaced.
Hanging Indent
Each Works Cited entry should be formatted with a hanging indent. A hanging indent means that the first line of each reference is flush left and subsequent lines are indented 0.5 inches from the left margin.
Arrange Works Cited entries alphabetically by the surname of the first author, or by title if there is no author. When beginning with the title ignore initial articles (e.g. A, An, The) for alphabetization.
