Counselling Services
Receiving a disclosure of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) can be challenging and may leave us uncertain about how to respond. As staff and faculty members of RDP, it is possible that you may receive such disclosures. Therefore, it is essential to be prepared to offer the best possible support when a student comes forward with an incident.
To assist those responding, the Consent Education Coordinator has developed the RDP Disclosure Support Sheet. This comprehensive resource outlines basic steps to follow when receiving and responding to disclosures. By familiarizing yourself with this sheet, you can better support survivors of SGBV and contribute to a safer, more supportive environment.

Red Deer Polytechnic recognizes that our campus is situated on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the central Alberta region we serve falls under Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land where RDP sits. This is where we will strive to honour and transform our relationships with one another.
