What is Mental Health?

Mental health is the ability of individuals to think, feel, and act in ways that enhance their ability to enjoy and cope with day-to-day life. Positive mental health means creating a balance among all aspects of an individual’s life including the social, physical, spiritual, economic, and mental.

Students experience a variety of stressors and challenges that are particular to academic life. When considering these demands in a larger context mental health can become an area of struggle for many students.
