Academic Integrity Fundamentals Tutorial

The Academic Integrity Fundamentals Tutorial will foster an understanding of Academic Integrity at RDP. The tutorial is aligned with RDP’s Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy and Academic Misconduct Procedure.

What is academic misconduct?

Academic misconduct occurs when students do not behave with integrity in an academic setting. Academic misconduct includes cheating and plagiarism (Red Deer Polytechnic, Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy, p. 4).

"Students are responsible for conducting themselves in a manner supportive of a positive learning environment and upholding the values of academic integrity, honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage. Academic misconduct refers to behaviours that go against these values" (Red Deer Polytechnic, Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy, p. 3).

At Red Deer Polytechnic, academic misconduct can result in:

  • Failing your assignment
  • Failing your course
  • Suspension from Red Deer Polytechnic
  • Expulsion from Red Deer Polytechnic
  • Not being accepted at another college or university after being expelled from Red Deer Polytechnic;

Academic misconduct is part of the Students Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
It is explained in the Academic Misconduct Procedure:
